The Hotel
Lovina Beach Hotel was founded by the late Anak Agung Pandji Tisna in 1953. His next of kin, Anak Agung Ngurah Sentanu, became the owner and manager since 1959.
Lovina Beach Hotel was the first hotel in the area. In the beginning, it was a simple lodging composed of a restaurant and three guest rooms on the beach. The original name of the beach was Pantai Kampung Baru (“pantai” means beach), and the village’s name was Tukadcebol (now Kaliasem). The weather moderate mostly all years and location are very convenience where the calm sea hugs the shore.
“Lovina” rapidly gained its popularity inside and outside the country because Pandji Tisna was a novelist as well as a columnist with some foreign publications. Immediately Pandji Tisna was taking in guest.
When tourism flourished in Bali around 1980, the one and only destination spot in the Northern Coast of Bali was Lovina. The little Lovina and the home stays were filled with visitors. The result was obvious. Many tourist facilities like hotels, restaurants and others were set up spontaneously around the villages of Kaliasem and Kalibukbuk, to accommodate the tourists.
Followed by Pandji Tisna’s youngsters another lodging or the so called “home stays” were built close by, Hotel Tasik Madu, Manggala Homestay and Ayodia Accommodation. In turn, Lovina Beach Hotel was extensively renovated.
At that time, tourist business was new to the local people, they just copied “Lovina”. They simply think to be successful in the tourist business they must use the name “Lovina” otherwise their business would be out. Lovina was so overwhelming and combined a number of six or more “native villages”, i.e. Kalibukbuk, Anturan, Tukadmungga, Pemaron, and Temukus and of course, its birthplace Tukadcebol (Kaliasem) under the name “Lovina Beach Resort”. Until now, Lovina is still copied freely and used by the people without knowing its origin.
